addresses privacy concerns regarding the insertion

of a unique identifier number in Office 97 documents.

Once applied, the patch prevents Office 97 applications

from inserting a unique identifier number into new

Office 97 documents.  This patch also applies to

standalone versions of Word 97, Excel 97, or PowerPoint 97.

Before installing this patch you must update your system

with Microsoft Office Service Release 2, if you have not

already done so. In addition, Microsoft Office Service

Release 2 requires Microsoft Office Service Release 1

be installed first.



The Microsoft Office Service Releases are available for

downloading (after you wade through some MAJOR hoops)

from the Microsoft website (SR1=8.9MB & SR2=24MB).
